A review of Cop Out

I saw this movie a little while ago and was going to write a review of it. I got busy and never got the chance to so I thought I would go ahead and do so tonight. I wasn’t familiar with the movie before I went. In my opinion this was good in this case because sometimes trailers give away to much information about the films and when you do see them you are disappointed due to a lack of fulfillment. In my case I didn’t know what to expect at all. If you like action/comedy flicks this is for you. A lot of both and keeps you interested with a good story line. Movies are sometimes predictable but this one had me wondering where the end was going. I can usually figure out how things are going to play out in my head but they had a lot of options with the ending that I was happy to not know what was going to happen.

Tracy Morgan did a wonderful job giving the comedy and Bruce Willis played into it as well. With a little help for Sean Williams Scott to give the edge a little more comedic. The action was intense but not unbelievable. Not a Die Hard by any means but Willis does go for a bit without a shoe. I would rank this as a good movie to see in the theater and a good one to buy when it is released. I am looking forward to seeing the outtakes because I think the crew could have been pretty fun on set ad libbing and such.

Don’t bring the kids to see it though as it has a lot of foul language. Even as Willis gets older he isn’t loosing his touch. He captures your attention even with the comedy distracts. I felt this movie the whole way through definitely an A on my scale. If you know me that isn’t hard to get as long as its good. I will continue to review movies as I see them and I would also like to hear if you want me to review one for you. Let me know.

A review of (C)GI Joe

I was able to see a pre-screening of the new movie GI Joe, and have to admit it was pretty awesome! It was a little too much CGI for my taste but the real action was pretty good as well. Snake Eyes is probably my favorite still of the Joe’s, and on the Cobra side it would have to be Cobra Commander. Even though he didn’t become him until the end of the movie, and he didn’t have that high squeal of a voice I remember from my childhood, he still did a good job being the evil leader everyone fears.

The uniforms where albeit cool looking, not at all like the original show. Except maybe Storm Shadow and Snake eyes. They were very Batman and Robin-ish if you remember that movie. All that rubber molding minus the nipples and there you have it. The roles were played well and the acting was great, well as good as you can get with a cheesy 1980′s cartoon remake. Over it was a great movie and I am looking forward to the next one. They left it very open ended. So many different avenues they could take. I wonder what the next one will entail.

A muggle’s view on Harry Potter.

This week I had the privilege of taking my wife on a date. It had been a while since the last one so I thought is was about time for another one. We went to Granite City for a wonderful meal but not before heading to the local movie spot to check out the newest in the series: Harry Potter and the Half blood prince.

I have read all of the books and if you know me really well that was a feat in itself. I have never really liked to read but for some reason these books grabbed a hold of me and wouldn’t let go. Now this is about the movie so I won’t go to in depth to the book, but the first thing I noticed was the fact that the scene where they are at the Burrow as Lupin and Tonks are leaving . This was not in the book at all. I believe the reason this was added to the movie was because there wasn’t enough action in the adaptation.

I thought they did a wonderful job showing Draco in his confused/scared state. I kinda felt sorry for him that he was the one chosen to do such a task. Then again he is Malfoy and I remembered what a swine he has been. The story hinted at the quiditch stuff but really only showed Ron getting the keeper role and winning the one match. I was hoping a little more of that would have been on the big screen. This was one thing that they seemed to have a lot more of in the prior films, mostly because Harry was so young when he first started and being the youngest seeker in a long while, they had to make the point.

So with a couple of relationships blooming and the tales of He who must not be named getting stronger. This movie is among the top three in my opinion. The first one being number one, because you can’t have any of them without it and it was such a new thing. Then in a close second maybe even tie for first, I put Prisoner of Azkaban. Sirius is awesome in that and plays his role as a rumored murderer very well. I believe the next and final film will show us the ending we desire for this epic saga. Until then watch the other ones and read the books for more hints as to what is coming.
